意思跟 afterwards / later 一樣——但只用在書面。

常見錯誤
位置靈活：subsequently 可以放在句首（Subsequently, the policy was scrapped.）或主動詞前（The policy was subsequently scrapped.）。兩種都自然。
意義偏移：別把 subsequently 當 consequently（因此）——一個是時間順序，一個是因果關係。**句子拿掉這個字後，意思要還是時間順序，才是 *subsequently***。
Register 注意：Speaking 用 subsequently 略生硬——閒聊中用 then / after that / later on 即可；Writing 才換成 subsequently。
