Writing Task 2 舉例時，台灣學生十個有八個寫 like——但在學術 IELTS 裡，like 主要是「相似」的意思，舉例要用 such as。這小錯誤讓 Lexical Resource 卡 6.0。

為什麼是 Taiwanese 特有錯誤

中文「像」可以表「相似」也可以表「例如」——兩個意思一個字。學生把 like 當萬用舉例詞，結果考官一看就知道是口語化表達，正式度不足。

兩字核心差異

Like 合法的時候

當你真的要表達「相似」（而非舉例），like 是對的：

  • He looks like his father.（相似）
  • London, like Paris, has a metro system.（同樣地）
  • It sounds like a good idea.（類似／感覺像）

這些情境不能用 such as 替代。

逗號規則

such as 前的逗號——有兩種情況：

  • 沒逗號（限定用法）：Countries such as Japan have... → 只指 Japan 這類國家
  • 有逗號（補充說明）：Many countries, such as Japan and Korea, have... → 整體指許多國家，Japan Korea 只是舉例

台灣學生常犯：such as 前面亂加逗號，或忘記在列舉後面加逗號收尾。
