Marcus (club secretary): Riverside Tennis Club, Marcus speaking.

Olivia: Hi, I'd like to join the club, please. A friend at work plays here and recommended you.

Marcus: Lovely, welcome. Could I take a few details? Full name, please.

Olivia: Olivia Pemberton. P-E-M-B-E-R-T-O-N.

Marcus: Thank you. And your date of birth?

Olivia: The third of February, nineteen ninety-five.

Marcus: Right. Now, we have three membership tiers. Junior, which is for under-eighteens — that's not you. Standard adult is two hundred and forty pounds a year, includes court bookings up to twice a week. And Premium is three hundred and twenty, with unlimited bookings plus a coaching session each month.

Olivia: I think Standard would be enough — I'd play once a week, maybe.

Marcus: Sensible. Now, do you have any tennis experience? We grade members for the social ladder.

Olivia: I played at university for two years, but I haven't picked up a racket in about five.

Marcus: Let's grade you intermediate, then. You can move up after the first ladder round. Now, club night — we run social tennis on Wednesday evenings, seven till nine, and Sunday mornings. Actually, sorry, scratch that — Wednesday social has just shifted to Thursday from this month. The Wednesday court is being resurfaced.

Olivia: Thursday's better for me anyway.

Marcus: One last admin thing — emergency contact. We need a name and number.

Olivia: That's right.

Olivia: Direct debit, please.
