IELTS Speaking Part 2 = cue card + 1
P — Person (誰)
O — Occasion (什麼時候、哪裡)
W — What happened (發生什麼)
E — Emotion (當時感受)
R — Reflection (現在回看)
範例:題目「Describe a book you have read recently」
P (12s):誰
Haruki Murakami
- 人物:the protagonist Toru Watanabe
- 時間:last summer
- 情境:on a long train journey from Taipei to Kaohsiung
Norwegian Wood

總共五點 — 自動滿足 cue card 4 個 bullet(題目通常要求 what / when / why / how you felt)。
Today I'd like to talk about a novel called Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, which I read last summer. I started it on a long train journey from Taipei to Kaohsiung — I needed something to occupy the four hours, but I ended up staying awake until 2am that night to finish it.
The book follows a university student named Toru Watanabe in Tokyo during the late 1960s, a period of intense political upheaval. He finds himself torn between two very different women: Naoko, the troubled girlfriend of his closest friend, and Midori, a lively classmate who pulls him back toward life.
What struck me most was the atmosphere — melancholy, but in a way that felt strangely comforting. I was going through a difficult period at university at the time, and reading it felt like someone understood exactly what I was experiencing. Murakami's descriptions of Tokyo's jazz cafés and autumn streets became almost more vivid than my own surroundings.
Looking back now, I'd say this book changed how I think about loss and growing up. I've recommended it to three friends since, and two of them said it hit them the same way. It's not a cheerful novel, but somehow it made me feel less alone — which I think is the highest compliment I can give any book.
I read a book last summer;Band 7 是 on a long train journey from Taipei to Kaohsiung。
- P + O → past tense
- E → past emotion + present reflection
- R → present perfect + present
Describe a place you would like to visit
- P: myself, travel companion(guide?friend?alone?)
Describe a difficult decision you made
- P: decision about(工作?
Describe a skill you want to learn
寫 Murakami / Taipei-Kaohsiung train / melancholy / change view of loss。
