五大題型

  1. Opinion (Agree/Disagree)To what extent do you agree or disagree?

五個模板(四段結構)

1. Opinion

§1 Intro — paraphrase + your stance(強 or 弱 agree)
§2 Reason 1 why you agree
§3 Reason 2 why you agree (或承認對方的點,再反駁)
§4 Conclusion — reinforce stance

Band 7 開頭

The suggestion that ___ has generated considerable debate. In my view, this approach is largely justified, as it brings both social and economic benefits that outweigh the drawbacks it entails.

2. Discussion

§1 Intro — paraphrase + "In this essay, I will consider both positions before sharing my view."
§2 View A (someone else's) — 發展 1-2 個理由
§3 View B (your view) — 發展得比 §2 更詳細
§4 Conclusion — 你站哪邊 + 為什麼

Band 7 Intro

While some people believe that ___, others argue that ___. This essay will examine both positions before concluding that, on balance, the latter view is more persuasive.

3. Advantages / Disadvantages

兩種變形

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages? → 平衡描述(§2 adv, §3 dis, §4 小結)
  • Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?要選邊(§2 你認同的那邊,§3 另一邊但反駁,§4 結論)

Band 7 Intro (weighing)

The growing trend of ___ has sparked discussion about whether its benefits truly outweigh its costs. On balance, I believe the advantages clearly exceed the disadvantages, despite the legitimate concerns raised.

4. Problem / Solution

§1 Intro — paraphrase + signpost ("This essay will first identify the main problems, then propose practical solutions")
§2 Problem 1 + Problem 2
§3 Solution 1 (对应 Problem 1) + Solution 2 (对应 Problem 2)
§4 Conclusion

關鍵:Problem 跟 Solution 要配對。不能 §2 談塞車,§3 談教育。

5. Direct Question

§1 Intro — paraphrase + "This essay will first examine why... before proposing solutions"
§2 回答第一個問題
§3 回答第二個問題
§4 Conclusion

Direct Question 跟 Problem/Solution 不同:前者問「為什麼」,後者問「什麼問題」。

三段身體語言技巧(所有題型通用)

PEEL 結構

每段展開用 PEEL:

  • Point — 主題句
  • Explain — 解釋為什麼
  • Example — 具體例子(可以虛構,但要可信)
  • Link — 連回主題

Example paragraph (Opinion essay):

Firstly, requiring students to wear uniforms significantly reduces social pressure. (P) When all pupils dress identically, families with lower incomes no longer face the embarrassment of being unable to afford the latest fashion. (E) In South Korea, for instance, schools that adopted strict uniform policies in the 2010s reported a measurable drop in bullying related to appearance. (Ex) This shows that uniforms can create a more equitable learning environment. (L)

Linking phrases (Band 7+)

避免 First / Second / Third — 那是 B1 等級。用:

  • To begin with,
  • Moreover, / Furthermore, / In addition,
  • That said, / Nevertheless, / Having said that,
  • A further point worth noting is...
  • In conclusion, / To sum up,

最常被誤判的兩題

「Agree/disagree」但給了兩個陳述

Some people believe A. Others think B. Which view do you agree with?

這是 Discussion,不是 Opinion。要討論兩邊才能選一邊。

「Do adv outweigh dis」vs「What are adv and dis」

第一個要選(是 yes 還是 no)。第二個不要選(純描述)。選錯 = 扣分。
