教育(Education)是 IELTS Task 2 最常出現的主題——近十年佔比約 18%。但翻開一百份台灣考生的 essay,九成的 body 段落不外乎 students study at school, teachers teach them, they learn many things

問題不是「錯」——是沒有主題深度。Band 7+ 要的不是大單字(ubiquitous),而是主題專屬的精準詞彙。Examiner 看到 curriculum, pedagogue, attainment gap 立刻知道:這個考生能談教育議題,不是只會背模板。

為什麼主題詞彙比「大單字」重要

IELTS 的 Lexical Resource 評分項寫得很明白:uses a wide range of vocabulary with precision。關鍵是 precision(精準),不是 range(廣)

例子:在教育 essay 裡寫 schools should give students knowledge → Band 6。寫 schools should equip students with transferable skills → Band 7。差別不是字難,是用對領域的字

五大子類詞彙

1. 學制系統(System & Structure)

題目脈絡:Some argue universities should focus on employability rather than academic knowledge.

In my view, the drift toward employability-led curriculum design reflects a genuine shift in what tertiary education is expected to deliver. A substantial proportion of undergraduates now select their institution based on graduate employment figures rather than scholarly reputation, and this pressure has forced faculty to rethink how they teach. Project-based learning, which invites students to grasp concepts by applying them to real problems, has displaced rote learning in many departments. That said, narrowing the syllabus to skills that employers demand today risks producing graduates who cannot adapt when those skills become obsolete. The soundest approach, I would argue, is to foster curiosity alongside technical competence, so that students leave with both immediate employability and the capacity for lifelong learning. Only then will higher education genuinely narrow the attainment gap rather than reinforce it.
