Band 7+ 的 Task 2 essay 幾乎都有一個特徵：

The "but" test：你的 essay 有沒有 but / however / that said / nevertheless 這類對立轉折？沒有 → 大概卡 6.5。
為什麼 Band 7 要有對立
Band 7 的 Task Response 評分明寫：
Presents a position throughout, but this may not always be clear; may over-generalise.
Band 8 則是：
Presents a well-developed response with relevant, extended and supported ideas.
Well-developed = 能看到議題的兩面、能解釋為什麼自己的立場還是贏。一邊倒 = under-developed。
怎麼加對立（兩個 pattern）
Pattern 1：承認 + 反駁（Concession-Rebuttal）
Admittedly, [opponent's point]. However, [why your position still stronger].
It is true that [opponent's point]. That said, [your counter-argument].
Critics argue that [opponent's point]. While this concern has some merit, [why you're still right].
放在：body §2 或 §3 的中段。
Pattern 2：雙重條件（Nuance）
In most cases, [your main claim]. Nevertheless, this does not apply when [exception].
Broadly speaking, [main claim]. However, there is one important qualification: [caveat].
放在：body 結尾，顯示思慮周密。
範例對照
❌ 一邊倒（Band 6.5）
Compulsory uniforms are a good idea. They reduce bullying. They also save money for parents. Moreover, they create equality among students. In conclusion, uniforms should be compulsory.
邏輯 OK，但沒有深度。所有句子都順向——讀完感覺作者只看到一面。
✅ 有對立（Band 7+）
Compulsory uniforms bring clear benefits: they reduce appearance-based bullying, cut clothing costs for families, and promote a sense of shared identity.
Critics often counter that uniforms suppress individual expression. This concern has some merit, particularly for older teenagers. However, the scope for self-expression through hairstyles, accessories, and extra-curricular choices remains considerable — and the collective benefits of reduced social pressure arguably outweigh the cost to individual style in the school context.
On balance, therefore, I believe uniforms should be mandatory at the primary and lower-secondary level.
結論相同（支持 uniform），但對話了反方——讀起來 well-developed。
最小可行對立
如果整篇加對立太難——就在 §3 加 2 句：
Admittedly, there are valid concerns about ___. Yet ___ remains the stronger case because ___.
3 句話 + 1 個對立 = 立即差別。
