你寫完兩段 body,剩 5 分鐘要寫結論。突然想到一個很棒的論點——「補進結論吧!」
錯。這是 Task Response 直接掉 1 分的標準動作。
為什麼結論不能有新觀點
Task 2 評分標準裡,conclusion 的功能只有一個:總結你已經提出的論點。
考官的邏輯:如果你真心覺得這個論點重要,為什麼不寫進 body 段?放在結論——表示你沒規劃、邊寫邊想。
這不是英文問題,是論述結構問題。中文論文也一樣——結論不放新論點。
結論該包含什麼
只要兩個元素:
- 重述你的立場(用不同說法)
- 總結兩段 body 的核心論點
範本:
In conclusion, while [opposing view] has some merit, [your position] is more convincing because [body 1 summary] and [body 2 summary]. Therefore, [restated stance].
實例
題目:Some people think university education should be free. Discuss both views.
爛結論(引入新觀點):
In conclusion, both views have points. Free education helps the poor, but is expensive. Also, online learning could replace traditional universities anyway, so this debate may not matter in the future.
「Online learning」之前完全沒提——新觀點。考官扣分。
好結論:
In conclusion, although free university education would impose a heavy burden on taxpayers, the social mobility and reduced inequality it generates make it a worthwhile investment. Governments should therefore prioritize public funding for higher education.
只總結 + 立場——乾淨俐落。
