連接詞（linking words）是 IELTS 評分 Coherence 的核心指標。但很多考生誤解——不是用越多越好，是用越多元越好。

三階法則：Band 7+ 要三種難度的連接詞混著用。

三階分級

階段 1（B1 級）——基本骨架

Firstly / Secondly / Finally / And / But / So / Also / Because / For example

功能：維持基本流暢。每篇 essay 可以出現 2-3 個——但不能只有這階。

階段 2（B2 級）——中級轉折

Moreover / Furthermore / In addition / However / On the other hand / In contrast / Therefore / Consequently / For instance

功能：Band 6 的骨架。一篇 essay 至少 4-5 個來自這階。

階段 3（C1 級）——高級彈性

That said, / Having said that, / Nevertheless, / A further point worth noting is... / Conversely, / By way of contrast, / It is also worth considering that... / This is particularly true when / For this reason alone, / The implication of this is that...

功能：Band 7+ 的印章。一篇 essay 至少 2 個來自這階——考官一看就知道你 C1。

為什麼混用很重要

錯誤 1：全部第 1 階 → Band 5.5

Firstly, X. Secondly, Y. Also Z. Finally W.

錯誤 2：全部第 3 階 → 讀起來做作，Band 6.5

Furthermore, that said, nevertheless, having said that...

正確：三階混用 → Band 7+

Firstly, X. Moreover, Y. That said, there is an alternative view. A further point worth noting is that Z. In conclusion, W.

一個真實對照

❌ 只用第 1 階

Firstly, technology helps students. It makes learning faster. Also, it is more fun. But some kids use it too much. So parents should control it. Finally, technology is good if used well.

Band 5.5——骨架太淺，每句一個基本連接詞。

✅ 三階混用

Firstly, technology significantly enhances learning efficiency. Moreover, it makes complex material more engaging for younger learners. That said, excessive screen time can have detrimental effects on attention span — a point increasingly supported by neurological research. A further consideration worth raising is the role of parents in moderating use. In conclusion, technology is a powerful tool provided it is deployed with appropriate oversight.

Band 7.5——一階 (Firstly, In conclusion)、二階 (Moreover)、三階 (That said, A further consideration worth raising) 各有。

戰術重點

  1. 每段用 1-2 個連接詞就夠——不要每句塞一個
  2. 階段 3 放在要強調的地方：反駁、承認、最後深化
  3. 重複用同一個連接詞扣分——Furthermore 一篇只用一次
