I study English for 10 years,卻不會 sustained exposure to the target language over a decade。

Some argue children should start learning a foreign language from primary school.

I strongly support introducing foreign-language instruction from early primary school, provided the programme is well-resourced rather than merely symbolic. Children below the age of roughly ten absorb phonology and intonation with a facility that adolescent learners rarely recover, and sustained exposure during this window produces measurably better long-term fluency. Bilingual education systems in Finland and Singapore consistently demonstrate that children can acquire a second language without any detectable cost to their mother tongue — in fact, literacy in both languages appears to reinforce one another. Critics worry about cognitive load, yet the genuine risk is the opposite: late starters who then struggle to achieve fluency despite years of remedial effort. An immersion or communicative approach, delivered by adequately trained teachers, turns the critical period from a fleeting opportunity into a decades-long advantage.
