Part 3
Match each course (1-6) to the most suitable student (A-D)
Categories:
- A. suitable for beginners
- B. requires previous experience
- C. has been cancelled
Predicted paraphrases:
- A: for new learners / no experience needed / introductory
- B: need prior knowledge / assumes you've / intermediate or above
- C: no longer running / not offered this term / dropped from schedule
"The Tuesday Pottery class — it's been really popular, we had planned to offer it to beginners, but actually now it's full of returning students, so we've had to upgrade it to intermediate level. You'll need at least a term's experience."
陷阱:聽到 offer it to beginners 選 A(suitable for beginners)。 正解:but actually now it's full... upgrade to intermediate = 需要經驗 = 答案 B。
1-6:Match each course to the student's evaluation.
課程:
- Creative Writing
- Statistics Workshop
- Environmental Law
- Public Speaking
- Film Studies
- Coding Bootcamp
- A. strongly recommend
- B. only for specific majors
- C. avoid this term
- D. depends on workload
Anna: So, let's go through the optional modules. Creative Writing — everyone I know who took it last year loved it, and it's open to anyone. I'd say go for it.
Ben: Agreed, that's a definite yes. What about Statistics Workshop?
Anna: Honestly, unless you're doing Economics or Psychology, it's too technical to be useful. Skip it if you're in Humanities.
Ben: Fair point. Environmental Law?
Anna: I was excited about it, but I heard the lecturer is on sabbatical this semester — the module has been dropped until next year.
Ben: Oh, that's a shame. Public Speaking — worth it?
Anna: Definitely. Everyone should take that one, regardless of major. It's brilliant.
Ben: And Film Studies?
Anna: It looks fun, but the coursework is intense — three essays plus a 20-minute presentation. I'd only do it if your main degree is light this term. Check your timetable first.
Ben: Makes sense. Last one — Coding Bootcamp?
Anna: That's only being offered to Computer Science and Engineering students this year. They've restricted enrolment.
| # | Course | Keyword in audio | Answer | |---|---------------------|-----------------------------------------------|--------| | 1 | Creative Writing | go for it / open to anyone / loved it | A | | 2 | Statistics Workshop | unless you're doing Economics or Psychology | B | | 3 | Environmental Law | dropped until next year | C | | 4 | Public Speaking | Definitely / regardless of major | A | | 5 | Film Studies | I'd only do it if your main degree is light | D | | 6 | Coding Bootcamp | only offered to Computer Science... | B |
