Q1. How often do you use the Internet?

Constantly, if I'm honest — it's basically the background of my whole day. Mornings I'm scrolling LINE messages and the news on the MRT, work hours I'm switching between Slack, Google Docs, and the occasional YouTube break, and evenings I'll either stream something on Netflix or fall down a TikTok rabbit hole. The screen-time number is genuinely scary.

Q2. What do you use the Internet for?

A bit of everything, really — work email and research take up a chunk, but socially I'm mostly on LINE for friends and family, and Threads or IG for the more public stuff. I do a fair amount of online shopping on Shopee, especially during the big sale festivals like 11/11. And honestly, a lot of my "Internet use" is just background music or podcasts.

Q3. Did you use the Internet differently when you were younger?

Quite differently, yeah — early on it was MSN Messenger and PTT in high school, which feels almost prehistoric now. By university everything had migrated to Facebook, which back then was where you actually had real conversations. Now my friends and I barely post anything publicly; everything's moved into closed group chats. The pattern is much more private than it used to be.

Q4. Is the Internet useful for studying?

Massively, in my experience — I rely on it constantly. YouTube tutorials have saved me on more than one statistics assignment, and I use ChatGPT to clean up my English drafts before I submit them. The risk is it makes you a bit lazy at thinking from scratch, so I try to use it as a sounding board rather than a finished-answer machine.

Q5. Do you think people spend too much time online?

Probably yes, although I'm in no position to judge — I'm part of the problem. I think the issue isn't the total amount of time so much as the quality: doom-scrolling for an hour leaves you feeling worse than two hours of actually learning something. I've started using a screen-time app to pull myself back when I'm clearly just numbing out.

Band 6: I use the Internet to chat with friends. I also watch videos and play games. The Internet is very useful for me.
