I wake up at 7. I brush my teeth. I eat breakfast. I go to work."
Q1. Are you a morning person?
Not really, if I'm being honest — I can function in the mornings when I have to, but I've never been one of those people who bounces out of bed at 6 AM. My best hours are probably between 10 and noon, once I've had a coffee and my brain has genuinely switched on. I've made peace with the fact that I'll never be a sunrise-yoga type.
Q2. What do you usually do in the morning?
It depends on the day, really — on workdays I tend to rush through a pretty minimal routine: alarm goes off at 7:30, quick shower, coffee on the MRT. At weekends it's almost the opposite: I'll deliberately stretch breakfast out for an hour, usually with a book or a podcast, because those slow mornings are the part of the week I actually look forward to.
Q3. Do you eat breakfast every day?
Most days, yeah, although my definition of breakfast is pretty loose — during the week it's often just a soy milk and a dan bing from the shop downstairs, which I'll eat on the walk to the MRT. On weekends I try to do something a bit more substantial, like eggs and toast, partly because I've got the time and partly because I actually enjoy it.
Q4. Has your morning routine changed recently?
It has, actually — since I switched jobs last year and started working from home two days a week, the whole shape of my morning has loosened up. I no longer need to leave by 8:15, which means I've started going for a short walk before opening my laptop. Small change, but it's made the work-from-home days feel genuinely more human.
Q5. Is it important to have a good morning routine?
I'd say yes, although "good" probably means different things for different people. For me it's less about doing anything impressive and more about not rushing — if I can leave the house without my heart rate already elevated, the rest of the day tends to go better. A routine doesn't need to be long; it needs to be steady.

Band 6 vs Band 7+ 對照
題目:What do you usually do in the morning?
Band 6: I wake up at 7. Then I brush my teeth. I eat breakfast at home. Then I go to work by MRT.
Band 7+: It depends on the day — on workdays I keep it minimal: alarm at 7:30, quick shower, coffee on the MRT. At weekends it's the opposite; I'll deliberately stretch breakfast out for an hour with a book, because those slow mornings are the part of the week I actually look forward to.
差別:Band 6 是流水帳,Band 7+ 用對比結構(workday vs weekend)+ 具體行為(coffee on the MRT, book)+ 個人情感(the part I actually look forward to)。
- 動詞流水帳:wake up, brush, eat, go 四個動詞排成一行——Band 5。改用 At 7:30 the alarm goes off, though I usually hit snooze once before I actually get up.
I wake up at 5 AM and do yoga and meditate."——考官會追問細節穿幫。
Has your routine changed recently?
