- 聽到 sports 就講 "I don't like sports."
- 把 exercise(運動)跟 sports(運動/競技)混用——考官會覺得詞彙 range 不足。
I love basketball like Michael Jordan——太假、太罐頭,Band 6 天花板。
Q1. Do you play any sports?
Not competitively, no — I'm definitely more of a weekend-hobby type than an athlete. I pick up badminton with a couple of friends most Saturdays at a community centre near Da'an, and I've recently got into cycling along the Xindian riverside path. It's less about winning and more about getting out of the apartment, to be honest.
Q2. Did you play sports when you were younger?
I did a bit, yeah — we had compulsory PE at school, which meant a lot of dodgeball and basketball whether you enjoyed it or not. I was never particularly good, but I remember quite liking table tennis because it felt less intimidating than the team sports. Looking back, I wish I'd stuck with swimming — that's the one skill I'd actually use now.
Q3. Is it important for people to do sports regularly?
Absolutely, and I'd say it's becoming more important, not less. With so many of us glued to screens for work, you genuinely have to schedule movement into your week or it simply won't happen. It doesn't have to be serious exercise either — even a proper walk up Yangmingshan on a Sunday makes a noticeable difference to how I sleep and focus.
Q4. Do you prefer watching sports or playing them?
Honestly, playing — I've never been much of a spectator. Watching a two-hour match on TV feels a bit passive to me, although I can see the social appeal when you're in a bar with friends. If anything, I've started preferring sports I can do casually over any that involve a fixed schedule or a team I'd let down by skipping.
Q5. Are there any sports you'd like to try in the future?
A few, actually. Surfing is high on my list — I've been meaning to take a lesson down at Jinshan for ages but never quite got round to booking one. I'd also love to try rock climbing properly; there's an indoor gym near my office that I walk past every day, and I keep telling myself I'll give it a go next month.

Band 6 vs Band 7+ 對照
題目:Do you enjoy doing sports?
Band 6: Yes, I like sports. I play basketball sometimes with my friends. It is good for health.
Band 7+: I enjoy it in a casual way, yeah — not competitively, but I try to get moving three or four times a week. Mostly it's cycling along the riverside or a hike up Yangmingshan at the weekend. I find that kind of low-pressure exercise does more for my stress levels than for my fitness, honestly.
Band 7+ 有頻率(three or four times a week)、具體地點(Yangmingshan)、自己的動機(stress levels)、hedging(in a casual way, honestly)。
No, I don't like sports." 至少加 but I do try to walk a lot / go for occasional hikes。
Sports are good for our body and mind."
I play every sport, I love all sports."——不可信。
