  • 講颱風只會 typhoon come, very dangerous——沒用 make landfall, flooding, power outage 這類精準搭配。

Q1. What's the weather like in your country?

Taiwan's weather is fairly dramatic, actually — we get everything from sub-tropical summers that are genuinely sweltering to surprisingly chilly winters in the north, especially when a cold front rolls in from the mainland. The humidity is the real challenge, to be honest; it's usually above 70%, which makes 30 degrees feel closer to 38.

Q2. What's your favourite season?

Autumn, without a doubt — it's easily the shortest season here, but the couple of weeks when the humidity drops and the temperature settles around 22 or 23 are honestly some of the best weather on earth. It's the only time I can genuinely enjoy a long hike up Yangmingshan without arriving at the top drenched in sweat.

Q3. Do you prefer hot or cold weather?

Cold, every time — or at least cool. I find it much easier to add layers than to escape the heat, and a cold snap usually means the air quality improves too, which is a nice bonus in Taipei. Hot weather, especially the sticky kind we get in July, tends to leave me completely flat by the end of the afternoon.

Q4. Does the weather affect your mood?

Absolutely — probably more than I'd like to admit. A string of grey, drizzly days in January can genuinely pull my motivation down, whereas a clear, blue-sky morning makes me want to reorganise my entire life. I've started forcing myself out for a walk on dreary days precisely because I know the weather has such a hold on me.

Q5. Has the weather changed much in your country recently?

It really has, and not subtly — the summers have got noticeably longer, and the shoulder seasons, spring and autumn, feel like they've been squeezed into a few weeks each. Typhoons also seem to be arriving less predictably than they used to. Most people I know just accept it as the new normal, but if I'm honest, it's genuinely unsettling.

Band 6 vs Band 7+ 對照

題目:What's your favourite season?

Band 6: I like autumn. Because it's not hot and not cold. The weather is very comfortable.

Band 7+: Autumn, without a doubt — it's the shortest season here but probably the most pleasant, when the humidity finally drops and temperatures settle around 22 or 23. It's the only time I can hike Yangmingshan without arriving drenched in sweat.

差別:Band 6 用了三次 comfortable / not hot / not cold 這種乾巴巴的形容詞;Band 7+ 有具體溫度數字(22-23)、具體地點(Yangmingshan)、對比(短但最舒服),以及自然片語(without a doubt, drenched in sweat)。

  1. 只用 hot/cold/rainy:三個詞輪流用完就沒話——練習至少能說出 5 組同義詞(muggy/sweltering/chilly/drizzly/blustery...)。
The average temperature is 24 degrees Celsius."
