題型:Discussion。我的立場:a hybrid model is preferable to either extreme

完整範文(294 字)

¹ The question of whether work should take place primarily at home or in a shared office has divided employers and employees alike since the pandemic reshaped professional life. ² While each arrangement attracts genuine support, I will argue that a hybrid structure captures most of the benefits of both while avoiding the sharpest costs of either.

³ Advocates of remote working often highlight the reclaimed hours and reduced stress that come from eliminating a daily commute. When employees are trusted to manage their own time, many report higher productivity on focused tasks and a better balance between professional and family commitments. A 2023 Stanford longitudinal study of 16,000 knowledge workers found that fully remote employees completed roughly 9% more deep-focus output than their office-based counterparts, while reporting notably lower burnout. For parents and carers in particular, the flexibility of home working can be genuinely transformative.

Nevertheless, defenders of the traditional office raise equally important concerns about what is lost when colleagues rarely meet. Serendipitous conversations in corridors and kitchens are how junior staff absorb professional norms, how unexpected collaborations begin and how complex disagreements are resolved without misunderstanding. Personally, I find the hybrid model the most defensible compromise: two or three days of co-located work per week preserves the cultural fabric that purely remote teams gradually lose, while protecting the focus time that open-plan offices notoriously destroy. ¹⁰ Several major employers, including a large Taiwanese bank I have worked with, have moved to exactly this pattern and report the highest satisfaction scores in their history.

¹¹ In conclusion, both camps identify real advantages that any thoughtful policy should protect. ¹² A hybrid arrangement, rather than a binary choice between the kitchen table and the cubicle, offers the most sustainable way forward.

| 評分項 | 本篇證據 | Band | |--------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|------| | Task Response | 兩邊各一段充分發展;立場明確(hybrid)且非逃避;結論雙邊致意;舉具體 policy 與實例 | 7 | | Coherence & Cohesion | 段落功能清楚;pivot linker(Nevertheless);parallel structure(三個 how-clause);referent 穩定 | 7 | | Lexical Resource | Topic-specific(serendipitous conversations, co-located work, open-plan offices, cultural fabric);搭配(reclaimed hours, burnout) | 7 | | Grammar Range | Passive(are trusted, is lost);relative-how(how junior staff absorb);participle(including a large Taiwanese bank);complex NP | 7 |

三個可複製的動作

1. Discussion 題的第三選項合法

立場不一定要選 A 或 B。"A hybrid / calibrated / middle-ground approach captures the benefits of both" 是 Band 7 合法立場——只要前面真的討論了 A 和 B。

2. 平行結構 (parallel how-clause)

句 8 的 "how junior staff absorb norms, how collaborations begin and how disagreements are resolved" 是 Grammar Range 加分動作。三個並列 how-clause 或 that-clause,一句展示高階句法。

3. Conclusion 用對比意象

"rather than a binary choice between the kitchen table and the cubicle" — 把抽象問題視覺化,比 "a balanced approach is better" 強十倍。
