I live in Xinyi District, which is near the Taipei 101 area, and there are three MRT lines nearby — the red line, the blue line, and the green line..."

- What would you change about your home?

- Would you recommend it to a tourist?
- Would you like to live there forever?
It's near Zhongxiao-Fuxing station on the brown line, two stops from Taipei Main Station..."
I live in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, which used to be Zhonghe Township before 2010 when it became part of..."
Taipei has 2.6 million people and 271 square kilometres..."
What do you like about your hometown?"
Weak (Band 5 — 地理課): My hometown is Taichung. It has 2.8 million people. It's in central Taiwan. There is a famous night market called Fengjia.
Band 7+(感覺面): What I love most is the pace, honestly. Taichung feels about one notch slower than Taipei — people actually stop to chat at the breakfast shop, the traffic isn't insane, and the weather is genuinely the best in Taiwan. I grew up there until I was 18, and whenever I go back now, the first thing I do is head to a proper beef noodle place I've been going to since primary school.
Has your hometown changed in recent years?"
Band 7+: Oh, massively. The area I grew up in used to be mostly rice fields and low-rise shophouses, but over the past decade or so they've built this huge MRT line through the middle of it, and now there are high-rise apartments going up everywhere. It's a bit bittersweet — the convenience is obviously better, but the place has lost some of its sleepy, small-town feel. My grandma still complains about it every time I visit.
| 詞彙 | 中文 | 使用範例 | |------|------|---------| | cosy | 溫馨的 | My bedroom is small but cosy. | | spacious | 寬敞的 | The living room is surprisingly spacious. | | tight-knit community | 緊密的社區 | It's a tight-knit community. | | suburb | 郊區 | I live in a quiet suburb. | | bustling | 熱鬧的 | It's a bustling neighbourhood. | | laid-back | 輕鬆悠閒的 | Taichung has a laid-back vibe. | | up-and-coming | 新興發展中 | It's an up-and-coming area. | | charm | 魅力 | It has a certain old-town charm. | | nostalgic | 懷舊的 | I feel nostalgic about the old shophouses. | | settle down | 定居 | I'd like to settle down there eventually. | | bittersweet | 甜中帶苦 | The changes are bittersweet. | | landmark | 地標 | The main landmark is the old temple. | | off the beaten track | 不太有人知道 | There's a café off the beaten track I love. |
Would you recommend your hometown to tourists?
Yes, but not for the obvious reasons. Most tourists head straight for the night markets, which are fine, but I'd actually recommend something smaller — there's this tiny morning market in my old neighbourhood where the aunties still make oil rice by hand at 5 a.m. It's nothing you'd find in a guidebook, but it's genuinely what my hometown smells like.
"nothing you'd find in a guidebook" 這類片語直接暗示 你有 insider 視角——Band 7+ 加分。
Layer 2
Layer 3
